Treating High to Reach Windows
Here at Treasure Coast Window Fashions, many of our clients search for window treatments of all kinds and for all situations. It can be for a “standard” square window, and specialty shape, or a window with direct sunlight. It can also mean a window in a room with tall ceilings. If you’re in that boat, check out some solutions below, and contact one of our consultants here in Stuart for ideas about your particular needs.
About Rooms with High Ceilings
Adding architectural interest while making a home feel more spacious, vaulted ceilings bring a certain elegance. Their larger and more plentiful windows can add beautiful natural light and great views. That said, those windows can create some challenges, including glare from incoming sunlight, increased interior temps, and privacy concerns. Luckily, the right window treatments can help bring the room together to result in something that’s both stylish and functional.
Drapery
One way to accentuate your tall ceilings, is by adding full-length drapes to your windows. Mounting them at ceiling height (or just below) will seem to elongate the walls, adding depth and dimension to the space. If you select sheer fabrics, you can create a soft, airy look. Using velvet or linen will add texture and a sense of sophistication. Be sure to check out all the custom options through Carole Custom Fabrics, a Hunter Douglas partner.
Blinds and Shades
Presenting a contemporary, streamlined look, blinds and shades work well on windows with vaulted ceilings. With great functionality, clean lines, and a modern aesthetic, blinds and shades will complement almost any décor. Choose from Designer Roller Shades, Provenance® Woven Wood Shades, Vignette® Modern Roman Shades, sheer shades, and more, to achieve the look that’s just right for your space.
PowerView® Automation
If you have windows in a room with high ceilings, you’ll want the best in lift systems to control your window fashions. With automation, it doesn’t matter if you can reach the treatment or not. PowerView Automation from Hunter Douglas allows you to operate and program your shades to open and close when you want—even when you aren’t home. Use the PowerView app on your smartphone or tablet to position your shades exactly where you want them. Even better, you can link your PowerView to smart systems like Google or Alexa for voice-controlled operation.
