2026 Pantone Color of the Year

Pantone® Color of the Year

Some trends are stronger and longer-lasting than others—especially when the trend in question is the Pantone Color of the Year. The Pantone Color Institute selects a color every year, and it impacts more than you might think, leading in style and culture. At Treasure Coast Window Fashions serving Jupiter, Florida, we understand the importance of color, especially in home decoration. Read on to learn about the 2026 Color of the Year and what impacts it might have on the world around you.

Pantone Cloud Dancer

For 2026, the Pantone Color Institute chose Cloud Dancer, a shade of white that is “imbued with a feeling of serenity.” That said, color- and trend-watchers have raised their eyebrows at the choice, because, as many point out, white is the absence of color, which might imply that the institute hasn’t chosen a color at all. Which isn’t to say that the announcement should be ignored. After all, according to Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, the selection is like a blank canvas “opening up new avenues and ways of thinking.”

How the Color Is Chosen

In 1963, Pantone created the Pantone Matching System, a proprietary system used in graphic design, printing, home décor, and fashion design to manage colors, and since then, it has swayed trends in color for numerous industries, from fashion to automotive to interior design. In 1999, Pantone named its first color of the year and has continued that trend annually since. To make their selection, the color experts at the Pantone Color Institute scour the world looking for new color inspirations in areas of design, popular travel destinations, and socio-economic conditions. Part of how they reach a decision on the Color of the Year is to weigh current climate, past behaviors, and past trends to reach a balance on what they expect the upcoming year to need.

Understanding This Year’s Color

The Pantone Color Institute calls Cloud Dancer a “lofty white neutral whose aerated presence acts as a whisper of calm and peace in a noisy world” and adds that the color is “a living calm that invites renewal, vision in serenity and creative release.” Cloud Dancer is already featured in fashion and will doubtless appear in numerous other industries, including beauty and hair, packaging, and footwear throughout the year.

Using the Color of the Year in Your Home

Cloud Dancer might have more practicality in your home than you might think. It “invites a space where function and feeling intertwine to build atmospheres of serenity and spaciousness, providing a refuge of visual cleanliness that inspires well-being and lightness,” according to the Pantone team. They add that Cloud Dancer “introduces a spa-like feeling into bathrooms and an open and spacious feeling in the kitchen” and that it pairs well with natural materials like wood and stone. To add Cloud Dancer to a room, you could pair it with other colors—one idea is to choose an airy window fashion like Silhouette® Window Shadings to bring a pop of color to the room. You could also choose a more natural material like Provenance® Woven Wood Shades, which will help you bring the outdoors in.
